This module introduced design and creativity as approaches to problems in many different societal contexts, with a focus on open, complex, dynamic and networked problems that had proven to be unsolvable by more conventional means. Design and creativity are central to the creation of novelty and value for people, and can be harnessed to transform organisations, communities and societies by tackling real world challenges.
We discussed key theoretical perspectives, principles, tools and practices that lead to the creation of solutions to problems that range from making things to shaping processes, policies, organisations, and even cities and institutions. The module taught concepts and methodologies for understanding and incorporating design, creativity and innovation into everyday practices.
